Saving Lives Through Blood Donation

Members in Jinja donate Blood

Every year members of The church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints in the Jinja Uganda Stake participate in a one day Stake blood donation activity. This year’s activity was held on the 14 April 2018 at the Jinja Chapel.

This activity was conducted in partnership with the Jinja Blood Bank a long side the Uganda Red Cross Society. President Moses Mbiro the Stake President took the lead in planning the logistics of the event. He played a big role in sensitizing the members and the community about the need to donate blood.

For this particular year, about 35 members of the Church and around 10 community members participated in the donation.

Jinja blood bank believes that by giving blood, every donor helps meet the challenges of providing life-saving products whenever and wherever they are needed in Health facilities.

“We need to make sure that we have enough supplies of all blood groups and blood products to treat all types of conditions in health facilities” a facilitator said.

The need to help in donating blood to the country is in line with the Latter-day saints belief of being a brother’s keeper. Latter-day saints believe that as they freely receive they ought to freely give.
