Church Commended for its Humanitarian Efforts

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has been commended for doing charity in Uganda without discrimination.

This was revealed by the State Minister of gender and cultural affairs, Hon. Rukia Nakadama, when she officiated at a farewell dinner for the former Uganda- Kampala Mission President Eric Jackson and his wife Kaye Jackson who recently completed a three year mission .

Hon. Nakadama said,” The Church of Jesus Christ has enabled many people in Uganda to benefit in various services provided by the Humantarian department of the church. I want to pray that you continue serving our people because you have improved a lot of lives,”

The minister also noted that it is very unusual of people to provide assistance to all the categories of society but the church ensures that everybody in need is catered for without any discrimination.

Meanwhile, Hon. Florence Mutyabule also expressed her gratitude to the Humanitarian department of the Church for constructing spring wells and constructing 15 five stance pit latrines in 15 different primary schools in Namutumba (Busoga region).

“I am extremely happy to report to you all that my people no longer move long distance in search of clean water because the Church has brought it nearer to them. Even the problem of malnourishment among children is no more,” adds Mutyabule.

Flanked by his wife, Sister Jackson, President Jackson said that Uganda is a beautiful country with great people whom they would greatly miss. 

President Jackson emphasized that worldwide latter days saints are generous people because even the poor members of the church are generous people who give the little they have to bless others.

“We love the Ugandan people. We can’t be perfect but we can be like Jesus Christ because we love to serve people regardless of the need,” said Jackson.

The colourful ceremony was graced by the attendance of various dignitaries among them  Mps, Ministers, civil servants, lawyers and Cultural leaders to mention but a few.

Leaders and representatives of local branches and wards were also in attendance. The guest of honour, Hon. LukiaNakadama, the family of Hon. Musa Ecweru, Hon. Balyejusa, representatives from registrar of marriages and other local leaders of the Church.
