After serving for three years, President Stephen H. Collings and his wife Sister Tracy Ann Collings, completed their service presiding over the Uganda Kampala Mission on July 1, 2019. President Walter Chatora and his wife Sister Diana Chatora, have replaced the Collings and now preside over the Uganda Kampala Mission. The mission boundaries include the countries of Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia and South Sudan.
President Chatora was born in Zvishavane, Zimbabwe. He is a former Area Seventy, stake president, stake presidency counselor, bishop, high councilor and bishopric counselor. Sister Chatora was born in Harare, Zimbabwe. She is a former ward Relief Society president, former ward Relief Society and ward Primary presidency counselor, Relief Society compassionate service coordinator and ward self-reliance specialist. They are the parents of three children.
During a recent interview when asked what his goal was, he said “My goal is to make missionaries happy, lifted and to fulfill their purpose and mandate as representatives of Heavenly Father; that when they go back to their homes, they are a little taller and have reached a certain level of understanding and maturity; that they can be exemplary fathers, mothers and leaders of this great organization. Once we achieve that, I think we have done well. This is the gospel of love and we are looking forward to working with everyone in making the gospel of Jesus Christ grow in the Uganda Kampala Mission.”
