Church Boosts National Football Association

The local units of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Jinja district of Uganda have donated footballs to the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) during launch of the annual Presidential Under-16 Cup and unveiling of  their newly constructed Technical Center in Njeru.

In his remarks, the president of FUFA  Mr. Lawrance Mulindwa who presided over the function, expressed great appreciation to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their support and friendship.

He said the newly constructed facility, which sits on over 3 acres of land and features football fields, accommodation, and conference facilities, was developed to promote not only football skills among the 8 districts in that area but also to develop the youth in other areas of education.

Mr. Mulindwa encouraged users of the center to make friends and get to know one another regardless of the districts they are from and hoped the participants would return home with greater value of education and relate to others.

He stated that the tournament would build the National Youth Team and that coaches would be brought in to train them and to teach them how to avoid prevalent social evils such as drug abuse and homosexuality.

The function was attended by local leaders of the church in the area who also used the opportunity to extend invitations to the honored guests to attend the official opening and guest tour of the newly constructed Church Chapel in the Bugembe area of Jinja on the 27th of April 2013.
